The Cow & The Pig

There was once a man who was very rich and very miserly at the same time. The villagers disliked him intensely. One day he said to them, "Either you're jealous of me or you don't understand my love of money-God alone knows. But you dislike me; that much I know. When I die, I won't take anything with me. I will leave it all for others. I will make a will, and I will give everything to charity. Then everyone will be happy."
Even then people mocked and laughed at him. The rich man said to them, "What is the matter with you? Can't you wait a few years to see my money go to charity?"
The villagers didn't believe him. He said, "Do you think I'm immortal? I'll die like everyone else, and then my money will go to charities." He couldn't understand why they didn't believe him.
One day he went for a walk. All of a sudden it started raining heavily, so he took shelter under a tree. Under this tree he saw a pig and a cow. The pig and the cow entered into conversation, and the man overheard what they were saying.
The pig said to the cow, "How is it that everybody appreciates you and nobody appreciates me? When I die, I provide people with bacon, ham and sausage.. People can also use my bristles. I give three or four things, whereas you give only one thing: milk. Why do people appreciate you all the time and not me?"
The cow said to the pig, "Look, I give them milk while I'm alive. They see that I am generous with what I have. But you don't give them anything while you're alive. Only after you're dead do you give ham, bacon and so forth. People don't believe in the future; they believe in the present. If you give while you are alive, people will appreciate you. It is quite simple."
From that moment on, the rich man gave all he had to the poor.

'Very Big Asset' - Wolfgang Hildesheimer. Hilarious.

About the author: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfgang_Hildesheimer

one sunday i was relaxing with a mug of beer in a pub. some weird looking person came to me and asked me if i had any idea of buying a train. anybody can sell anything to me smoothly. because i dont know to say no to things. even then i thought i should be careful this time as it was a big sale. even though i dont know anything about trains i enquired him which model it was, in which year it was made, how the piston, guage.. were etc. i wanted him to know that i was one expert and i was not the one who bought unnecessary things. i dont know whether he was convinced or not. whatever it was he showed me the pictures of the train from all angles and gave all the information i needed. the trained looked perfect. i ordered for it immediately and settled for one price. it was one secondhand train. though trains dont wear and tear easily.. i didnt give the asked price.

the train was delivered the same night. i should have got suspicion at that time that it might have been phony because it was delivered so fast. but i didnt. because i never suspected such things. the door of my house is not broad enough so i couldnt keep the train inside the house. not only that, it was also so heavy even my house could have collapsed. so i kept it in the garage. naturally only half of it could go inside. garage roof was very high. i had kept a very big balloon once. of course it had burst later.

my cousin visited me after this sale. this cousin didnt like to guage things or show emotions. for him facts were facts. he never used to get surprised. he was one expert at describing anything and everything. in short he was a fussy man. after saying hello, to break the silence i started singing " tum paas aaye..yunh muskuraye.." . he finished it properly with " kuch kuch hota hai". he had brought cognac. after we finished drinking a few glasses he decided to stay over that night at my house and went to the garage to keep his car.

he returned after a few minutes and told me in a shaky whispering voice that there was one big train in my garage. i said " yes, i just bought it day before yesterday" slowly. " do u use it?" he asked. "no, not always" i replied. "only when my neighbour's wife had labour pain, i took her to the hospital in that train. she delivered twins. but my train was not responsible for that", i told him.

I had told this deliberately because i am the one of those who adds imagination to facts. i dont know whether he believed me or not. He just heard me out. he must have got irritated by the idea of staying over at my place he just started replying with 'uh huh's to my questions and he left immediately. he never came back.

after a few days when i read in newspapers that a train was stolen (not from this earth, but from one switchyard) i was sure that i have been had and that i was cheated. after a few days i saw the same person in the same bar and i pretended to be innocent and a recluse. This time he tried to sell me a crane. but i didnt want to do any business with him again. moreover why do i want a crane anyway?

Roles and how we play them

Whenever I’m disappointed with my spot in my life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott.

Jamie was trying out for a part in a school play. His mother told me that he’d set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.

On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement.

“Guess what Mom,” he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me: “I’ve been chosen to clap and cheer.”

A Blog Post by Singapore's Youngest Millionaire

By Adam Khoo
On Money |

Some of you may already know that I travel around the region pretty frequently, having to visit and conduct seminars at my offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Suzhou (China). I am in the airport almost every other week so I get to bump into many people who have attended my seminars or have read my books.

Recently, someone came up to me on a plane to KL and looked rather shocked. He asked, "How come a millionaire like you is travelling economy?" My reply was, "That's why I am a millionaire." He still looked pretty confused. This again confirms that greatest lie ever told about wealth (which I wrote about in my latest book "Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires" ). Many people have been brainwashed to think that millionaires have to wear Gucci, Hugo Boss, Rolex, and sit on first class in air travel. This is why so many people never become rich because the moment that earn more money, they think that it is only natural that they spend more, putting them back to square one.

The truth is that most self-made millionaires are frugal and only spend on what is necessary and of value. That is why they are able to accumulate and multiply their wealth so much faster. Over the last 7 years, I have saved about 80% of my income while today I save only about 60% (because I have my wife, mother in law, 2 maids, 2 kids, etc. to support). Still, it is way above most people who save 10% of their income (if they are lucky). I refuse to buy a first class ticket or to buy a $300 shirt because I think that it is a complete waste of money. However, I happily pay $1,300 to send my 2-year old daughter to Julia Gabriel Speech and Drama without thinking twice.

When I joined the YEO (Young Entrepreneur’ s Organization) a few years back (YEO is an exclusive club open to those who are under 40 and make over $1m a year in their own business) I discovered that those who were self-made thought like me. Many of them with net worths well over $5m, travelled economy class and some even drove Toyota's and Nissans (not Audis, Mercs, BMWs).

I noticed that it was only those who never had to work hard to build their own wealth (there were also a few ministers and tycoons sons in the club) who spent like there was no tomorrow. Somehow, when you did not have to build everything from scratch, you do not really value money. This is precisely the reason why a family's wealth (no matter how much) rarely lasts past the third generation. Thank God my rich dad (oh no! I sound like Kiyosaki) foresaw this terrible possibility and refused to give me a cent to start my business.

Then some people ask me, "What is the point in making so much money if you don't enjoy it?" The thing is that I don't really find happiness in buying branded clothes, jewellery or sitting first class. Even if buying something makes me happy it is only for a while, it does not last. Material happiness never lasts, it just give you a quick fix. After a while you feel lousy again and have to buy the next thing which you think will make you happy. I always think that if you need material things to make you happy, then you live a pretty sad and unfulfilled life.

Instead, what make ME happy is when I see my children laughing and playing and learning so fast. What makes me happy is when I see my companies and trainers reaching more and more people every year in so many more countries. What makes me really happy is when I read all the emails about how my books and seminars have touched and inspired someone's life. What makes me really happy is reading all your wonderful posts about how this BLOG is inspiring you. This happiness makes me feel really good for a long time, much much more than what a Rolex would do for me.

I think the point I want to put across is that happiness must come from doing your life's work (be in teaching, building homes, designing, trading, winning tournaments etc.) and the money that comes is only a by-product. If you hate what you are doing and rely on the money you earn to make you happy by buying stuff, then I think that you are living a life of meaninglessness¦.

Life's Lesson...

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package.
What food might this contain?' The mouse wondered - he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning:'There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!'

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, 'Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it.'

The mouse turned to the pig and told him, 'There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!'

The pig sympathized, but said, I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers.'

The mouse turned to the cow and said 'There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!' The cow said, 'Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose.'

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.

The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught.

The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital , and she returned home with a fever.

Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main Ingredient.

But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer's wife did not get well; she died.

So many people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.

The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.

So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn't concern you, remember -- when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.

We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

Invest in monkeys...and earn peanuts!

In a tiny village, a man decided to engage the villagers by offering them some work.
He announced that he would buy monkeys from them for Rs 10 per monkey. So, the villagers began catching them by the dozen, and as promised the man paid them.
But pretty soon the villagers became laid-back and the pace of work slowed down. So, the man offered to pay Rs 20 for every monkey they caught. The villagers started catching monkeys with a vengeance, again. But pretty soon the supply diminished, and people returned to their farms. The going price was raised to Rs 25 and then, Rs 50.Then one fine day the man had to visit the city and asked his assistant to take over.
The assistant came up with a new game place. He asked the villagers to buy the same monkeys that were sold by them for Rs 35 and sell them to the man for Rs 50. The villagers queued up with all their savings to buy the monkeys. After some days, neither the man nor the assistant could be found. There were monkeys all around!

Poised Mind

A long time ago in China , a girl named Li-Li got married went to live with her husband and mother-in-law. In a very short time, Li-Li found that she couldn't get along with her mother-in-law at all.
Their personalities were very different, and Li-Li was angered by many of her mother-in-law' s habits. In addition, she criticized Li-Li constantly.
Days passed, and weeks passed. Li-Li and her mother-in-law never stopped arguing and fighting.
But what made the situation even worse was that, according to ancient Chinese tradition, Li-Li had to bow to her mother-in-law and obey her every wish. All the anger and unhappiness in the house was causing Li-Li's poor husband! D great distress.
Finally, Li-Li could not stand her mother-in-! law's bad temper and dictatorship any longer, and she decided to do something about it! Li-Li went to see her father's good friend, Mr. Huang, who sold herbs.
She told him the situation and asked if he would give her some poison so that she could solve the problem once and for all.
Mr. Huang thought for awhile, and finally said, "Li-Li, I will help you solve your problem, but you must listen to me and obey what I tell you."Li-Li said, "Yes, Mr. Huang, I will do whatever you tell me to do."Mr. Huang went into the back room, and returned in a few minutes with a package of herbs.
He told Li-Li, "You can't use a quick-acting poison to get rid of your mother-in-law, because that would cause people to become suspicious Therefore, I have given you a number of herbs that will slowly build up poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meal and put a little of these herbs in her serving. Now, in order to make sure that nobody suspect you, when she dies, you must be very careful to act very friendly towards her. "Don't argue with her, obey her every wish, and treat her like a queen." Li-Li was so happy. She thanked Mr. Huang and hurried home to start her plot of murdering her mother-in-law.
Weeks went by, and months went by, and every other day, Li-Li served the specially treated food to her mother-in-law. She remembered what Mr. Huang had said about avoiding suspicion, so she controlled her temper!, obeyed her mother-in-law, and treated her like her own mother.
After six months had passed, the whole household had changed. Li-Li had practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never got mad or upset. She hadn't had an argument with her mother-in-law in six months because she now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with. The mother-in-law' s attitude toward Li-Li changed, and she began to love Li-Li like her own daughter.
She kept telling friends and relatives that Li-Li was the best daughter-in- law one could ever find. Li-Li and her mother-in-law were now treating each other like a real mother and daughter.Li-Li's husband was very happy to see what was happening.
One day, Li-Li came to see Mr. Huang and asked for his help again She said, "Dear Mr. Huang, please help me to keep the poison from killing my mother-in-law. She's changed into such a nice woman, and I love her like my own mother. I do not want her to die because of the poison I gave her."
Mr. Huang smiled and nodded his head. "Li-Li, there's nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison. The herbs I gave you were vitamins to improve her health. The only poison was in your mind and your attitude toward her, but that has been all washed away by the love which you gave to her."

Chat with God...

GOD : Hello. Did you call me?
Me: Called you? No.. who is this?
GOD : This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.
Me: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.
GOD : What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.
Me: Don't know. But I cant find free time. Life has become hectic. It'srush hour all the time.
GOD : Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.
Me: I understand. But I still cant figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.
GOD : Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.
Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?
GOD : Stop analyzing life. Just live it.. Analysis is what makes it complicated.
Me: why are we then constantly unhappy?
GOD : Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your habit. That's why you are not happy.
Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?
GOD : Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.
Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty. .
GOD : Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.
Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?
GOD : Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don't suffer. With that experience their life become better not bitter.
Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?
GOD : Yes. In every terms, Experience is a hard teacher..She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.
Me: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can't we befree from problems?
GOD : Problems are Purposeful Road blocks Offering Beneficial Lessons (to) Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.
Me: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don't know where weare heading...
GOD : If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.
Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving inthe right direction. What should I do?
GOD : Success is a measure as decided by others.Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you. Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing you rode ahead. You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock.
Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?
GOD : Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.
Me: What surprises you about people?
GOD : when they suffer they ask, "why me?" When they prosper, they never ask "Why me" Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth.
Me: Sometimes I ask, who am I, why am I here. I cant get the answer.
GOD : Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here.Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.
Me: How can I get the best out of life?
GOD : Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.
Me: One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.
GOD : There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is NO.
Me: Thank you for this wonderful chat. I am so happy to start the New Year with a new sense of inspiration.
GOD : Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Don't believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live .

Keen Observation

There is profound strength in observing silence. Knowing this secret all those people who observe silence have a sparkling & cheerful life.
There was an advertisement in a newspaper saying: "An officer required in a company dealing with very small sensitive instruments. .."
It was a prestigious post therefore lots of people applied for the post. All the selected applicants arrived for the interview on the decided date. While waiting to be called for interview, some of the applicants were drinking tea/coffee, some were smoking, some were talking & others were trying to impress the officers of the comapny. The hall was very noisy.
In this noisy environment there was a young man who was sitting peacefully. He was not doing anything. He was just silent & at peace with himself.
All of a sudden an announcement not easily audible was made from one of the sensitive instruments: "We would like to recruit a person who has a quiet nature and keen observation. The person who can hear this instruction may come in and take the recruitment letter."
Nobody could hear that anouncement in such a noisy atmosphere. But the young man who was sitting silently got up immediately and went in. He was appointed for that position. He went out of the room with the recruitment offer in his hand and spoke to other applicants: "Why is such a chaos here? I'm already appointed for the position."
All others were annoyed after hearing his statement. They accused him of bribing the recruiting group. Then that man replied peacefully: "Before going in I thought of you all. Then I saw that none of you could hear that instruction which said whoever can hear this voice can come in and collect their appointment letter. I was able to hear that but none of you could do that."

Genghis Khan and his Hawk

One morning Genghis Khan, the great king and warrior, rode out into the
woods to have a day's sport. Many of his friends were with him. They
rode out gayly, carrying their bows and arrows. Behind them came the
servants with the hounds.

It was a merry hunting party. The woods rang with their shouts and
laughter. They expected to carry much game home in the evening.

On the king's wrist sat his favorite hawk, for in those days hawks were
trained to hunt. At a word from their masters they would fly high up
into the air, and look around for prey. If they chanced to see a deer or
a rabbit, they would swoop down upon it swift as any arrow.

All day long Genghis Khan and his huntsmen rode through the woods. But
they did not find as much game as they expected. Toward evening they
started for home. The king had often ridden through the woods, and he
knew all the paths. So while the rest of the party took the nearest way,
he went by a longer road through a valley between two mountains.

The day had been warm, and the king was very thirsty. His pet hawk left
his wrist and flown away. It would be sure to find its way home.

The king rode slowly along. He had once seen a spring of clear water
near this pathway. If he could only find it now! But the hot days of
summer had dried up all the mountain brooks.

At last, to his joy, he saw some water trickling down over the edge of a
rock. He knew that there was a spring farther up. In the wet season, a
swift stream of water always poured down here; but now it came only one
drop at a time.

The king leaped from his horse. He took a little silver cup from his
hunting bag. He held it so as to catch the slowly falling drops.

It took a long time to fill the cup; and the king was so thirsty that he
could hardly wait. At last it was nearly full. He put the cup to his
lips, and was about to drink. All at once there was a whirring sound in
the air, and the cup was knocked from his hands. The water was all
spilled upon the ground.

The king looked up to see who had done this thing. It was his pet hawk.

The hawk flew back and forth a few times, and then alighted among the
rocks by the spring.

The king picked up the cup, and again held it to catch the trickling drops.

This time he did not wait so long. When the cup was half full, he lifted
it toward his mouth. But before it had touched his lips, the hawk
swooped down again, and knocked it from his hands.

And now the king began to grow angry. He tried again, and for the third
time the hawk kept him from drinking.

The king was now very angry indeed. "How do you dare to act so?" he
cried. "If I had you in my hands, I would wring your neck!"

Then he filled his cup again. But before he tried to drink, he drew his
sword. "Now, Sir Hawk," he said, "that is the last time."

He had hardly spoken before the hawk swooped down and knocked the cup
from his hand. But the king was looking for this. With a quick sweep of
the sword he struck the bird as it passed.

The next moment the poor hawk lay bleeding and dying at its master's
feet. "That is what you get for your pains," said Genghis Khan.

But when he looked for his cup, he found that it had fallen between two
rocks, where he could not reach it.

"At any rate, I will have a drink from that spring," he said to himself.

With that he began to climb the steep bank to the place from which the
water trickled. It was hard work, and the higher he climbed, the
thirstier he became.

At last he reached the place. There indeed was a pool of water; but what
was that lying in the pool, and almost filling it? It was a huge, dead
snake of the most poisonous kind.

The king stopped. He forgot his thirst. He thought only of the poor dead
bird lying on the ground below him.

"The hawk saved my life!" he cried, "and how did I repay him? He was my
best friend, and I have killed him."

He clambered down the bank. He took the bird up gently, and laid it in
his hunting bag. Then he mounted his horse and rode swiftly home. He
said to himself,

"I have learned a sad lesson today, and that is, never to do anything in
anger
, Please dont do any thing in anger, which later on you have to
repent for it. Be calm and control your anger."

There was a tightrope walker, who was so good that he could walk between two twenty stories building on a tight rope with a balancing pole. Thousands of people would watch him perform his breathtaking feat. After he walked across the building he would have his assistant sit on his shoulder and he would proceed to walk across the building. Everybody were amazed and gave him a thunderous applause. He asked them whether they believed that he could do it again. The crowd said, "Yes, we believe that you can!" After a while he asked the crowd again, "Now, who wants to volunteer to get on my shoulder?" With that the crowd became silent.

SUCCESS PRINCIPLES

There is a difference between Believe and Faith. We can believe what we see. In the above story, the crowd believed in the tightrope walker because they saw him perform the feat. But when he asked them "Who wants to get on my shoulder?" everyone was silent. You see, the crowd had Belief but they did not have Faith. This story clearly illustrates the difference between belief and having faith.

A beggar life

A beggar lived near the king's palace. One day he saw a proclamation posted outside the palace gate. The king was giving a great dinner. Anyone dressed in royal garments was invited to the party.

The beggar went on his way. He looked at the rags he was wearing and sighed. Surely only kings and their families wore royal robes, he thought. Slowly an idea crept into his mind. The audacity of it made him tremble. Would he dare?

He made his way back to the palace. He approached the guard at the gate. "Please, sire, I would like to speak to the king."

"Wait here," the guard replied. In a few minutes, he was back. "His majesty will see you," he said, and led the beggar in.

"You wish to see me?" asked the king.

"Yes, your majesty. I want so much to attend the banquet, but I have no royal robes to wear. Please, sir, if I may be so bold, may I have one of your old garments so that I, too, may come to the banquet?"

The beggar shook so hard that he could not see the faint smile that was on the king's face. "You have been wise in coming to me," the king said. He called to his son, the young prince. "Take this man to your room and array him in some of your clothes."

The prince did as he was told and soon the beggar was standing before a mirror, clothed in garments that he had never dared hope for.

"You are now eligible to attend the king's banquet tomorrow night," said the prince. "But even more important, you will never need any other clothes. These garments will last forever."

The beggar dropped to his knees. "Oh, thank you," he cried. But as he started to leave, he looked back at his pile of dirty rags on the floor. He hesitated. What if the prince was wrong? What if he would need his old clothes again. Quickly he gathered them up.

The banquet was far greater than he had ever imagined, but he could not enjoy himself as he should. He had made a small bundle of his old rags and it kept falling off his lap. The food was passed quickly and the beggar missed some of the greatest delicacies.

Time proved that the prince was right. The clothes lasted forever. Still the poor beggar grew fonder and fonder of his old rags. As time passed people seemed to forget the royal robes he was wearing. They saw only the little bundle of filthy rags that he clung to wherever he went. They even spoke of him as the old man with the rags. One day as he lay dying, the king visited him.
The beggar saw the sad look on the king's face when he looked at the small bundle of rags by the bed.Suddenly the beggar remembered the prince's words and he realized that his bundle of rags had cost him a lifetime of true royalty. He wept bitterly at his folly. And the king wept with him.

Discover the 90/10 Principle.

It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations). What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react. What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%. How? ……….By your reaction. You cannot control a red light. but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you; YOU can control how you react. Let's use an example. You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened. What happens next will be determined by how you react. You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit.

After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home. When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter. Why? …. Because of how you reacted in the morning. Why did you have a bad day? A) Did the coffee cause it? B) Did your daughter cause it? C) Did the policeman cause it? D) Did you cause it? The answer is "D". You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what could have and should have happened. Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "Its ok honey, you just need to be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having. Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different. Why? Because of how you REACTED. You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction. Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You don't have to let the negative comment affect you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel? A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them? WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive? Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it. You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job. The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take outpour frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse.

Now you know the 90-10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90-10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle. The result? Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 principle. It CAN change your life!!

Winning Counts

I was watching the Asia Cup 2008 finals cricket match between India and SriLanka recently which India lost. In the post match session the commentator read out some statistics and one of them was "India losing the 18th final out of 22 final since 1999".
This remained me a quote that I recently heard "It is not how many races you completed successfully but how many times you have won the race."

Can u undo the wrong gossip u have spread ?

A woman repeated a bit of gossip about a neighbor. Within a few days the whole community knew the story.

The person it concerned was deeply hurt and offended. Later the woman responsible for spreading the rumor learned that it was completely untrue. She was very sorry and went to a wise old sage to find out what she could do to repair the damage.

The Old Sage said "Go to the marketplace, and purchase a chicken, and have it killed. Then on your way home, pluck its feathers and drop them one by one along the road."

Although surprised by this advice, the woman did what she was told.

The next day the wise man said, "Now go and collect all those feathers you dropped yesterday and bring them back to me."

The woman followed the same road, but to her dismay, the wind had blown the feathers all away. After searching for hours, she returned with only three in her hand.

"You see," said the old sage, "it's easy to drop them, but it's impossible to get them back.So it is with gossip. It doesn't take much to spread a rumor, but once you do, you can never completely undo the wrong."

Failure doesn't mean you are a failure...

* Failure doesn't mean you are a failure...
--- it does mean you haven't succeeded yet.
* Failure doesn't mean you have accomplished nothing...
--- it does mean you have learned something.
*Failure doesn't mean you have been a fool...
--- it does mean you had a lot of faith.
* Failure doesn't mean you have been disgraced...
--- it does mean you were willing to try.
* Failure doesn't mean you don't have it...
--- it does mean you have to do something in a different way.
* Failure doesn't mean you are inferior...
--- it does mean you are not perfect.
* Failure doesn't mean you've wasted your life...
--- it does mean you've got a reason to start afresh.
* Failure doesn't mean you should give up...
--- it does mean you should try harder.
* Failure doesn't mean you'll never make it...
--- it does mean it will take a little longer.

Lunch With God

Kind words are a creative force, a power that concurs in the building up of all that is good, and energy that showers blessings upon the world.
-- Lawrence G. Lovasik

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her some chips. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.

Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, " I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, "Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied! "I ate potato chips in the park with God." However, before her son responded, she added, " You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all equally!

God Does Exist.

A man went to a barber shop to have his hair and his beard cut as always. He started to have a good conversation with the barber who attended him. They talked about so many things and various subjects. Suddenly, they touched the subject of God.

The barber said: "Look man, I don't believe that God exists as you say so.

"Why do you say that?" - asked the client.

"Well, it's so easy, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God does not exist. Oh, tell me, if God existed, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be no suffering nor pain. I can't think of a God who permits all of these things."

The client stopped for a moment thinking but he didn't want to respond so as to prevent an argument. The barber finished his job andthe client went out of the shop. Just after he left the barber shop he saw a man in the street with a long hair and beard (it seems that it had been a long time since he had his cut and he looked so untidy). Then the client again entered the barber shop and he said to the barber: know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How come they don't exist?"-asked the barber. "Well I am here and I am a barber."
"No!" - the client exclaimed. "They don't exist because if they did there would be no people with long hair and beard like that man who walks in the street."

"Ah, barbers do exist, what happens is that people do not come tome."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the client. "That's the point. GOD does exist, what happens is people don't go to Him and do not look for Him that's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

Why me?

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983.

From world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: "Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"?

To this Arthur Ashe replied: The world over - 5 million children start playing tennis, 50 thousand learn to play tennis, 5 thousand learn professional tennis, 500 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon , 4 to semi final, 2 to the final, When I was holding a cup I never asked GOD "Why me?". And today in pain I should not be asking GOD "Why me?"

Happiness keeps u Sweet,
Trials keep u Strong,
Sorrow keeps u Human,
Failure Keeps u Humble,
Success keeps u Glowing,
But only God Keeps u Going.....

Keep Going......

Happiest People

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
